The Council of Ministers Secretariat General has announced the extension of remote work arrangements across the public sector, alongside a series of public safety advisories issued by government authorities amid ongoing precautionary measures in the country.
Under the directive, all employees across ministries, government entities, and public institutions will continue working remotely on Monday, March 2, 2026. The decision excludes personnel in the military and security sectors, the health sector, and employees whose roles require physical presence at their workplace.
Authorities have urged citizens and residents to rely exclusively on official sources for information and to follow all safety and security guidance issued by competent state bodies.
Private Sector Advised to Implement Remote Work
In a parallel notice, the Ministry of Labour, in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, recommended that private-sector entities implement remote working arrangements on Monday, March 2, wherever the nature of work permits.
Businesses and organisations that require employees to be physically present on-site are exempt, provided all approved health and safety measures are strictly followed. Exemptions also extend to retail and service activities involving direct engagement with the public—including shops, consumer cooperatives, and restaurants—to ensure the uninterrupted supply of essential goods and services.
Stay Indoors and Follow Official Instructions
The Ministry of Interior has issued a public notice calling on the public to remain indoors and avoid going out unless absolutely necessary. The ministry stressed the importance of complying fully with official instructions in the interest of public safety.
In a separate advisory, the ministry also emphasized the need to strictly adhere to alerts issued through the Early Warning System and to immediately follow the instructions contained within them. Residents are urged to remain in safe locations, noting that compliance is essential to protecting lives and property.
Retail Supply Stable, Public Urged to Shop Responsibly
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry confirmed that goods and products remain readily available across retail outlets in Qatar, with supply chains operating normally to meet consumer demand.
The ministry called on the public to avoid panic buying and excessive stockpiling, urging residents to purchase according to their actual needs and to promote responsible consumption practices.
Guidelines issued include preparing a shopping list in advance, focusing on essential items such as food, necessary medications, and children’s supplies, and avoiding large or unnecessary purchases driven by concern.
Consumers are also encouraged to distribute their purchases across different retail outlets to prevent crowding and ensure that goods remain accessible to all.
Authorities reiterated that adherence to official guidance and responsible public behavior remain critical to maintaining safety, stability, and access to essential goods during the current period.
