Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, the Middle East’s largest immersive wellness destination established by acclaimed Thai wellness resort Chiva-Som, had the honour of welcoming H.E. Ms. Pensom Lertsithichai, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the State of Qatar, and her delegation to join World Cleanup Day on 20 September 2026.
Organised in collaboration with Earthna and the Agrico team as part of Zulal’s Mangrove Restoration Programme, the initiative brought together Zulal colleagues and partners for a coastal clean-up and mangrove planting activity, supporting the protection and restoration of Qatar’s coastal ecosystem.
The activity was led by Dr. Aspa D. Chatziefthimiou, Senior Ecologist, ESA Certified Research Scientist and Ecological Consultant, who guided participants through the mangrove nursery, offering insights into the biological value of Qatar’s mangrove ecosystems and their role in supporting coastal biodiversity. Participants also gained practical knowledge of mangrove planting and the importance of protecting these vital natural habitats.
During the visit, H.E. Ambassador Pensom Lertsithichai also met with Mr. Ammar Samad, General Manager of Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, and gained deeper insight into Zulal’s wellness philosophy, which brings together modern health practices with Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine (TAIM).
Mr. Ammar Samad, Regional General Manager of Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som and Jayasom, commented:
“At Zulal, we believe that caring for people and caring for the planet go hand in hand. World Cleanup Day is a meaningful opportunity to bring our colleagues, and partners together to contribute to Qatar’s natural environment. Through our Mangrove Restoration Programme, we hope to inspire greater awareness of the value of these ecosystems and encourage every generation to play a role in protecting them.”
