Qatar Airways has announced plans to operate a limited number of flights to Doha on March 8 following temporary authorization for a safe operating corridor, while scheduled flight operations remain suspended due to the continued closure of Qatari airspace.
In a statement, the airline said normal operations will only resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority confirms the full reopening of the country’s airspace. A further update is expected on March 8 at 09:00 Doha time (06:00 UTC).
Under the temporary authorization, Qatar Airways intends to operate flights to Hamad International Airport from six cities: London (LHR), Paris (CDG), Madrid (MAD), Rome (FCO), Frankfurt (FRA), and Bangkok (BKK).
The airline clarified that these flights will only carry passengers whose final destination is Doha. Travelers must hold a valid confirmed ticket before proceeding to their departure airport and may book through the Qatar Airways website, mobile app, or travel agents.
Qatar Airways emphasized that the flights do not represent a full resumption of scheduled commercial operations.
Repatriation Flights Operated from Doha on March 7
The announcement follows limited repatriation flights operated on March 7 under a similar temporary corridor, which departed Hamad International Airport for London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, and Frankfurt.
According to the airline, those flights were pre-allocated to stranded passengers, with priority given to families, elderly travelers, and individuals with urgent medical or compassionate travel needs. Affected passengers were contacted directly by Qatar Airways with flight details and travel instructions.
The airline said it is continuing to work to organize additional relief flights where operationally possible.
Passengers with confirmed bookings for travel between February 28 and March 15 2026 are eligible for complimentary date changes of up to 14 days from their original travel date or a refund for the unused value of their ticket.
Qatar Airways said the safety and wellbeing of passengers and crew remain its highest priority during the disruption and apologized for the inconvenience caused by the situation.
Passengers are advised to monitor updates through the airline’s official travel alerts page.
