Guide on Doha Metro & Lusail Tram in Qatar

Traveling through the vibrant cityscape of Doha, Qatar, is seamless with the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram systems in place. With trains running at speeds of up to 100 km/h and arriving every six minutes, residents and visitors alike find getting around a breeze.

We’ve put together a guide so you can easily navigate through Qatar via the metro and tram.

Doha Metro

The Doha metro covers an impressive 76km distance with three different lines equipped with 37 strategically located stations throughout the city. The three primary lines – Red, Green, and Gold – connect commuters to an array of cultural, leisure, and commercial hubs across the capital.

Travel Cards & Prices

You can purchase a standard Travel Card for just QAR 10 at any of the metro stations. Doha Metro offers travelers two distinct classes of travel: standard and goldclub. Opting for the standard or family carriages incurs a fare of QAR 2 per journey. With a day pass you can explore all day for a maximum cost of QAR 6

For those seeking a premium experience, the gold club awaits, priced at QAR 10 per journey. The goldclub travel card can be purchased at the goldclub office in one of the Doha metro stations for QAR 100.

Navigating through Doha Metro

Once you’ve purchased your travel card, you can make your way to the metro. The Msheireb station connects to all the lines (Red/Green/Gold) and can be used to go from one line to another. You can also interchange between the Red and Green Line via Al Bidda Station. You can always ask the staff at the station for further information and direction.

Make sure to enter the right carriage. There are three different carriages: standard, family, and gold. Only families and lone females can enter the family carriage. Only Gold club travelers can use the gold club carriage.

Metrolink Bus

Complementing the metro experience is the Metrolink bus service, ferrying passengers to and from metro stations within a 2 to 5 kilometer radius for free. You will need to tap in and out of the bus with your travel card. Learn more about Metrolink here.

Main Attractions along Doha Metro Lines

Red Line: Katara, West Bay, Msheireb, Corniche, and Hamad International Airport

Gold Line: National Museum of Qatar, Souq Waqif, Aspire Zone, and Villaggio Mall

Green Line: Education City, Al Shaqab, Qatar National Library, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, and Mall of Qatar

Lusail Tram

The Lusail Tram network covers a distance of 19 kilometers, connecting various government offices, residential towers, leisure and sports facilities, avenues, marinas, and other major attractions across Lusail City. The tram currently has two functioning lines – Orange and Pink.

Navigating through Lusail Tram

Doha Metro and Lusail Tram connects at the Legtaifya station on the red line of the Doha Metro. From Legtaifya station, you can get to different destinations in Lusail by taking the orange and pink line via Lusail Tram. 

You can use the same Doha Metro travel card (same prices) when entering and exiting any of the tram stations which start from Legtaifiya all the way to Seef Lusail – North (Pink Line) and Rawdat Lusail (Orange Line).

Orange & Pink Line: Lusail Corniche (Marina-Central Station), Marina Food Arena (Yacht Club Station), Al Maha Island (Marina-North Station), Place Vendôme (Tarfat-South Station), Al Seef area, Crescent Park, Lusail Boulevard, and Lusail Stadium.

Saturday – Wednesday: 5:30 AM – 11:59 PM

Thursday: 5:30 AM – 1:00 AM

Friday: 2:00 PM – 1:00 AM
