AlBahie Auction House, in collaboration with the Bachelor of Fine Arts Department of Painting and Printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar), and with Katara Cultural Village as Cultural Partner, is proud to present the fourth edition of “Jadeed: Contemporary Art from the Region.”
A Platform for New Horizons
Now in its fourth edition, Jadeed continues to evolve as one of Qatar’s most significant initiatives dedicated to emerging and contemporary art. More than an auction, Jadeed has grown into a dynamic platform connecting education, creative practice, and the art market. Each year, it brings together artists from Qatar and the wider Arab region, giving visibility to new voices shaping the future of art in a rapidly developing cultural landscape. This year introduces three curated sections that reflect the diversity and depth of Doha’s artistic ecosystem:
- Young Voices, Featuring Rising Talent from Qatar. A collaboration spotlighting outstanding young artists selected as winners of the VCUarts Qatar High School Fine Art Award 2025, celebrating the next generation of artistic visionaries from Qatar.
- Guest Artists from Qatar and the Region, showcasing a constellation of contemporary artists whose practices span painting, photography, sculpting, and mixed media.
- VCUarts Qatar Alumni, Highlighting emerging and established alumni who are redefining contemporary art locally and internationally.
Featured Artists
This year’s edition highlights a dynamic group of artists whose works reflect Jadeed’s dialogue between education, culture, and the wider region.
Among the VCUarts Qatar alumni are Maryam Al-Homaid and Shaikha Faleh Al-Thani, both exploring identity and imagination through contemporary expression.
Qatari artists such as Wadha Al-Athba and Roda Al-Thani bridge heritage and modernity in their practice.
Regional voices including Rima Salamoun, Sana Atassi, and Fatima Mortada bring powerful perspectives from Lebanon and Syria, enriching the exhibition’s cross-cultural narrative.
Building Bridges Between Education and the Art Market
In alignment with Qatar’s vision for a flourishing creative economy, Jadeed fosters connections between state institutions, universities, and the private sector to cultivate a sustainable art ecosystem.
According to Dr. Aissa Deebi, Head of Painting and Printmaking at VCUarts Qatar, “Jadeed has become a bridge between generations and disciplines, connecting emerging artists with professional opportunities while nurturing a culture of mentorship and exchange.”
Dr. Amro Abouelhoda, Senior Visual Arts and Theater Supervision Specialist at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, emphasized that this year’s collaboration “expands the scope of artistic practice in Qatar, uniting educational and cultural institutions to create a platform where art becomes both a language of identity and a tool for creative growth.”
