Qatar-Based Jewellery Brands Featured in Inaugural ‘Taking Back the City’ Initiative

Qatar-based jewellery designers and entrepreneurs took centre stage during the inaugural edition of “Taking Back the City,” a CSR initiative launched by Creatives Amplified to spotlight the country’s growing creative sector.

Held from May 10 to 11 at The Ned Doha, the invite-only showcase transformed the members’ club into a curated exhibition space featuring bespoke collections from local and regional jewellery brands.

The event brought together designers, media figures, hospitality leaders and industry professionals in what organisers described as an effort to revive Doha’s jewellery and creative landscape through collaboration, networking and public engagement. Alongside the exhibition, the programme included panel discussions and educational sessions focused on the cultural heritage, business development and evolving trends of the jewellery trade in Qatar.

Harriet Abiodun, Founder and PR Director of Creatives Amplified, stated: “We launched this ‘Taking Back the City’ initiative to reignite the city of Doha and support the local designers whose creativity and leadership deserve significant recognition. This showcase serves as a vital reminder of our legacy brands while introducing the audience to the emerging names shaping our future. By fusing hospitality with strategic PR, we’ve created a dynamic ecosystem where Qatar brands can truly thrive.  The overwhelming response to this ‘Jewellery Edition’ confirms that Doha is ready for more, and we are committed to amplifying other sectors in the seasons to come.”

Laurentia Meredith, Director of Membership at The Ned’s Club, added: “As pillars of the hospitality sector, we believe in the importance of championing our local creative community. It has been a privilege to host such a remarkable group of designers and to provide a refined space where our members could interact directly with the talent shaping Qatar’s design landscape. This event underscores our commitment to supporting business leadership and artistic excellence in Doha.”

A panel discussion on the opening day explored the creative and commercial evolution of Qatar’s jewellery industry, moderated by media professional Narges Raiss. Speakers included designer and educator Mariam AlMajed, luxury business strategist Aljazi Makki and collector and cultural expert Rashid Al Murikhi.

The second day featured a presentation by Kimberly Labs, Qatar’s first diamond and gemstone authentication laboratory, focusing on gemstone verification and jewellery purchasing awareness. Guests were also offered on-site evaluations of personal jewellery pieces during the event.

Calvin Fernandes, Director of Strategy at Spirit Events, the production partners of ‘Taking Back the City’, commented: “We joined this project to honor our commitment to the Qatari business sector that inspires us. The infrastructure for this event was specifically provided to ensure that the exhibition’s aesthetic reflected the caliber of the pieces on display and that purposeful environments for connection were established.”

According to organisers and partners, the initiative aims to create long-term opportunities for Qatar-based brands by combining strategic public relations, hospitality partnerships and creative programming. Future editions of “Taking Back the City” are expected to expand into other sectors within Qatar’s creative economy.
