The much-awaited Sabyasachi Jewellery Showcase officially opened at Printemps Doha, drawing an exclusive crowd of VIPs from Qatar and around the world for an unforgettable evening of luxury and craftsmanship. The grand event, held on December 9, marked the debut of the celebrated Indian designer’s exquisite pieces in Qatar, a testament to his exceptional artistry and rich cultural heritage.
The showcase, which runs until December 14, features a stunning collection of jewellery pieces inspired by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser and Elizabeth Taylor. The pieces celebrate Sabyasachi’s signature fusion of traditional Indian techniques with contemporary design. Each creation tells a unique story, where carefully selected gemstones come together to evoke a narrative of heritage, opulence, and exuberance.
His pieces cater to connoisseurs with a taste for the rare and extraordinary — those who value the unique and are willing to invest in timeless jewellery. Sabyasachi unveiled a collection that was simply breathtaking. A necklace boasting over 224 carats of rubellite tourmalines in a striking pigeon blood hue stole the show — an extraordinary piece that took 7.5 years to put together. The design’s brilliance was heightened with sapphires and old mine cut diamonds, each detailing a testament to excellence.
Equally mesmerizing was the Moulin Rouge necklace, a kaleidoscope of colour crafted in gold with tourmalines, sapphires, pyrites, iolites, spinels, and EF WS VS diamonds. For those drawn to bold statements, the Byzantine Cravate was an irresistible highlight, with its dazzling fusion of precious stones and brilliant cut diamonds.
It was an evening of sheer elegance where discerning collectors found pieces that weren’t just jewellery but a journey of legacy and passion.
Opening the showcase at Printemps Doha, Sabyasachi said, “The unique jewellery from the Bengal Royal Collection pay homage to European techniques, Mughal motifs and the Bengali craft filigree found only in Calcutta. With echoes of the Georgian age to the Belle Époque, this collection is Sabyasachi’s ode to an era of iconic thought, craftsmanship and sartorial brilliance.”
“The master craftsman of Calcutta journey through the gilded magnificence of Constantinople to find New York’s modern, theatrical power. Experience a new silk route – the voyage of cultural and artistic savoir faire. The Bengal Byzantine Broadway Collection creates a contemporary dialogue between legacy and perspective,” he added.
Private appointments with Mr. Mukherjee are available until December 11, offering a rare opportunity for collectors, brides-to-be, and fashion connoisseurs to meet the designer in person. These exclusive sessions provide insight into the creative genius behind his collections and an opportunity to explore personalized customizations.
Additionally, for those wishing to experience the beauty and grandeur of Sabyasachi’s designs, the showcase will remain open to the public until December 14.
