As part of ongoing efforts to enhance efficiency and strengthen governance within Qatar’s real estate sector, the Cabinet has approved the transfer of the Real Estate Brokerage Department from the Ministry of Justice to the Real Estate Regulatory Authority. The strategic move is aimed at advancing the profession, reinforcing principles of governance and transparency, and elevating service standards across the property market.

Commenting on the decision, H.E. Eng. Khalid bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, Chairman of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Aqarat), described the move as a significant milestone in completing the regulatory framework of the real estate sector. He noted that consolidating supervisory authority under the umbrella of the Authority would enhance institutional performance, streamline procedures, and improve the overall quality of services.
His Excellency further emphasized that transferring the Real Estate Brokerage Department will enable the Authority to develop the activity within a comprehensive regulatory vision grounded in the rule of law. The move is expected to strengthen oversight, curb unlicensed practices, and raise professional standards among real estate brokers. In turn, this will bolster investor confidence and foster a stable investment environment that supports the country’s broader economic development goals.
