The National Planning Council (NPC) hosts H.E. Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in the third episode of Podcast AlTanmiya (Development), to explore the role of Qatar’s education system and higher education sector in advancing the nation’s comprehensive development agenda.

The episode explores the Ministry’s role as the national authority responsible for preparing future-ready learners who can contribute to sustainable development, and its contribution to advancing human development in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy.

It also highlights the Ministry’s efforts to align scholarship programs with national and private sector needs; expand the localization of the teaching profession and increase the proportion of Qatari educators; expand science, technology, and technical and vocational education; and strengthen inclusive education. These efforts collectively aim to prepare a generation capable of leading a knowledge-based economy and actively contributing to national development.

The episode covers key issues across all stages of education— from early childhood to higher education. It addresses topics such as graduates’ readiness for the labor market, private school fees, and the language of instruction, alongside the broader question of how to instill a strong work ethic and a sense of national belonging from an early age. It also explores priorities such as aligning education outcomes with labor market needs, directing national talent toward the private sector, increasing enrolment in technical and vocational pathways, and strengthening the Arabic language and national identity within a multilingual learning environment.

The episode also highlights the education system’s preparedness to respond to emergencies, demonstrating how distance learning during recent regional developments ensured the continuity of education.

Commenting on the third episode of Podcast AlTanmiya (Development), Mr. Abdulaziz Ahmed Al-Fehani, Assistant Secretary-General for Council Affairs at the National Planning Council, said: “No economic or social objective within the Third National Development Strategy can be realized without skilled human capital. This episode therefore focuses on a dialogue with H.E. Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, given the Ministry’s central role as the starting point for developing national human capital. The Council’s role is to connect these efforts to the broader national vision and to bring the strategy closer to society.”
