Qatar Foundation celebrated World Volleyball Day 2026 today with a ladies-only tournament and a series of interactive challenges at the Education City Recreation Center, bringing together more than 150 young people from across Qatar.
The event concluded with an awards ceremony, where participants were recognized by Ali Ghanim Al-Kuwari, President of the Qatar Volleyball Association, and Alanoud Al Mesnad, Executive Director of Women’s and Girls’ Sports at Qatar Foundation.
Observed annually on 7 July, World Volleyball Day was established by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) – the governing body for all volleyball disciplines – to celebrate the sport’s ability to inspire, connect, and empower communities around the world.
Volleyball is one of five sports in Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Creating Pathways program, an initiative that empowers women and girls. Launched in 2024 as part of QF’s FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ legacy, the program encourages physical activity and promotes overall wellbeing, enabling women and girls to build confidence, develop new skills, and explore opportunities both on and off the field.
